Unit 8 Birthdays

教学内容: Story time  

教学目标:

1. 能听懂、会说、会读eleventh, eighth, together, birthday, April, game等本课所涉及的单词。

2. 能理解和初步运用句型:When’s your birthday? It’s on …、What do you do on your birthday? I usually …。

3. 能初步感知序数词的构成和用法。

4. 学生能够阅读并理解故事。

5. 学生能够在理解的基础上有感情地朗读并合作表演故事。

教学重点和难点:

教学重点:1. 能正确理解并朗读课文,在教师的帮助下尝试复述课文。

2. 学生能在理解的基础上合作复述故事。

教学难点:能初步运用本课所学的词汇和句型询问别人的生日以及如何过生日。

教学准备:图片、词汇卡、多媒体

教学构想:

本节课是义务教育教科书英语五年级下册第八单元Birthdays第一课时Story time。

在导入环节,教师通过一首耳熟能详的生日快乐歌曲,让学生领略不同语言的生日快乐歌从而引出本课的教学。不仅活跃了课堂气氛,也为本节课的新知学习做好了铺垫。接着,教师通过谈论birthday所引起的联想将学生已学的旧知和新知相融合,也为课文的学习打下了基础。在文本学习环节,先通过两个问题,让学生通过看动画学习日期的表达。再引导学生自读课文,抓住两个不同人物在生日时所做的事对课文的内容有进一步了解。

在巩固环节,教师安排了一系列的阅读训练。跟读时,教师尽量引导学生模仿录音,注意语音语调的变换,重读、弱读等朗读技巧的处理。齐读时,教师注意及时纠正学生的发音。接着,教师设计通过板书来复述课文,让学生自主选择复述的方式。这样的设计能够帮助学生加深对故事的理解和印象,巩固所学。最后,教师鼓励孩子们模仿课文,介绍一下自己的生日是如何度过的,强调了语言的实际运用。

教学过程:

Step 1: Lead-in

1. Enjoy a song (各种语言的生日歌) (复习序数词)

2. Free talk

T: What day is it today?

S: It’s …

T: What’s the date today?                      

S: It’s …

3. Listen and guess—What holiday is it?

(1) Children like this festival very much. It is on the first of June. What is it?

S: Children’s Day.

(2) It is in May. We always have three days for rest. People always go to the park with their family. What is it?

S: May Day.

(3) It is a great festival for me. I was born 33 years ago. What is it?

S: It is your birthday.

T: Today we will discuss Unit 8 Birthdays

Step 2: New teaching

1. When you see the word “birthday”, what will you connect in the mind?

S1: Noodles.

S2: Birthday cakes.

S3: A big dinner.

S4: Presents.

S5: Party.

T: I think you always have a good time on your birthday.

2. Listen, answer and write

T: Look, Miss Li, Su Hai and Mike are talking about birthdays too. Listen to the tape and answer the questions:

(1) When’s Su Hai’s birthday?

(2) When’s Mike’s birthday? (T板书句型,S观看动画并尝试回答)

S: Su Hai’s birthday is on the 11th of May

S: Mike’s birthday is on the 8th of April (学生回答,老师板书并教授:11th、8th)

3. Read and tick

T: Just now, we know the date of their birthdays. This time, let’s read the story and tell me. What do they do on their birthdays? Please finish the table.

Step 3: Reading time

1. Listen and repeat

T: Now, children, let’s follow the tape, and try to imitate the pronunciation and intonation. OK?

S: OK. (学生跟录音模仿课文语音语调)

2. Read by yourself

T: This time, two students a group, you can choose one which you like to read.

(1) Read in roles    (2) Read after one    (3) Read together  (学生自主选择并朗读)

4. Ask and answer

T: Good job! Do you remember the whole story now?

5. Let’s retell

(1) 教师带领学生根据板书复述课文。

(2) 小组复述。可选择复述自己喜欢的人物。

Step 4 : Summary

1. T: Do you spend your birthday like Su Hai or Mike?

S1: Su Hai.

S2: Mike.

T: Su Hai is a Chinese girl. Mike is an English boy. But now most of the children eat the birthday cake on their birthdays. (中国人过生日的文化已经吸收了很多西方元素,因此,中西方生日文化差异已经不是很明显了。)

2. T: Boys and girls. How is your birthday? Would you like to introduce your birthday now? You can use the following sentences.

My birthday

My birthday is on the … of …

I … on my birthday. I want a/an …

I have a great time/have a lot of fun.

Homework :

1. Read the story three times.

2. Copy the new words and phrases.

3. Get more information about birthdays in western countries.
